A Focus on Faith

Our coworkers often have hidden depths, unique passions and talents we seldom get to see while in work-mode, but at Atlantic Logistics, we aim to support the person, not just the employee. That’s why we’re happy to congratulate Darlene Batten, our Accounting Services Manager, on her recent Black Authors, Artists and Entrepreneurs Awards nomination from Courageous Woman magazine.

Although Batten holds vast experience as a professional accounting specialist and financial administrator, she’s also a veteran of the arts and a devout prayer warrior. Known as Sister Batten and D. Tina Batten in many of her artistic ventures, she has created works as an author, playwright, actress and filmmaker to help inspire change for those struggling and less fortunate. Batten has been creating and performing since the age of 15, gathering inspiration from biblical teachings and letting faith fuel her artistic endeavors.

“Now more than ever during this unprecedented time we live in, having a balanced work-life is just as important as maintaining good physical and mental health,” Batten said. “Even so, I push myself every day to have a balanced life. In most cases, that hard work will ultimately pay off.”

Her passion has led her to write and stage plays like Second Chance Trilogy and the First Women of The Gospel Interactive Dinner Show. She also partnered with California-based author Traci Wooden-Carlisle to write the book, The Prayer Warrior, a suspenseful Christian fantasy. Courageous Woman magazine has nominated it as the Inspirational Book of the Year and Best Fiction as part of Black History Month and its Virtual Networking Gala at 8 p.m. Feb. 24.

Batten is thrilled to be included and is looking forward to several new opportunities.

“I celebrate the nomination of my book, as well as the public release of the BAAE Awards this coming Thursday… but I also just received the announcement and advertising regarding my new digital film distribution platform at Badami TV Channel,” she said. “It is a subscription-based digital network like the others, of course, but I'm extremely honored, thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to share my work with the world. As an independent artist, having ownership of your content is vital. It makes receiving this nomination even sweeter as I celebrate maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This is a great thing.”

We hope you’ll join us in congratulating Darlene on her award nomination and artistic efforts. Her book, Prayer Warrior, can be purchased on Amazon by clicking here.
