Atlantic Cares During COVID-19

It's been roughly six weeks since the COVID-19 Pandemic put the brakes to life as we've known it.

Many careers and businesses upended or shuttered. Many rush to the frontlines to help. Many have recovered yet, so many lives were lost. Every day we count our blessings that our doors are still open, the team healthy and we're doing our part to keep the country stocked, supplied and running.

Recently, we acquired much needed hand sanitizer and bottled them for free distribution at area truck stops.

Logistics Assistant Tali Hooper mass produces hand sanitizer.

Last week we were finally able to do that. It was so encouraging and satisfying to be able to personally thank these carriers by distribute hand sanitizers and by way of bonus, also we had a few masks available as well.

CEO Rob Hooper and Ops Director Rex Oliver hand out hand sanitizer recently.

These are scary times, but the majority of the truckers are continuing to deliver goods to keep our economy going," said Office Manager Jan Merson, "by donating these bottles of hand sanitizer, we hope that we are making life a little less stressful for them."

Several Carriers stopped by our table.

Several bottles were distributed and the effort was such a success that we're looking to do that again soon.

Again, despite COVID-19’s shift in all of our lives, some of the team still find a way to volunteer with organizations that mean so much to them.
Logistics Specialist Kendra Hassell has such a servant’s heart and she volunteers with is Soldiers Freedom Outdoors, an area nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans through eco therapy.

From their website: Soldiers Freedom Outdoors is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 2012 and became a public charity in 2014.

Soldiers Freedom Outdoors is dedicated to serving our active-duty and retired service veterans.  In six years of service, SFO has provided eco therapy (nature therapy) to hundreds of soldiers, regardless of gender, service branch or length of service.

Since our inception, we have helped change the lives of many suffering from post-traumatic stress and re-connected them with the healing power of Nature. Some of our heroes have said our program saved their lives… powerful testimonies like that make us work harder than ever to meet our soldier’s needs, and gives us confidence we are making a difference.

There is no charge for our retreats.

Here's Kendra's view in her own words: Soldiers Freedom Outdoors is one of my favorite places to volunteer. SFO gives me an opportunity to contribute towards providing a safe haven for our Veterans and Active Service Members. The Mission of SFO is to “Heal the Hidden Wounds of War” through equine therapy, and the holistic peace that nature provides throughout the 350 acres provided.

The Veterans that attend retreats at SFO express how much joy and peace this organization provides for them and I am so honored to be a part of that.

Finally, if there are any of you out there that don't have a mask and are looking for an easy and free way to make one, check this out.

All you need a t-shirt and about 5 minutes of practice.

Be Safe and Be Well Everyone.
