Atlantic Logistics and AGX Freight Partner to Benefit Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Stephen Siller was on his way to play golf with his brothers when he received word over his scanner of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Although he had just finished a shift, the New York City firefighter returned to his squad to collect his gear and assist. Stephen then drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and when he found it closed, strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back and raced through the tunnel to the Twin Towers on foot. He gave his life to save others that day.

Sept. 11, 2001, is a day we will never forget and the Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created in remembrance of that tragedy and the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller. Many organizations and individuals will attend to help raise funds. For Ike Sherlock, Chief Operating Officer & Executive Vice President of AGX Freight, participation has become an annual affair.

“We’re very patriotic because of our core values,” Sherlock said. “We are proud Americans, and we don’t want to forget 9/11 and the unity that came from that day. There’s still a lot of people negatively impacted through sickness or loss and this organization helps them financially, so we’ll be there to support them.”

Atlantic Logistics is also partnering with AGX Freight to support the Tunnel to Towers mission and has made a donation of $3257 to support its programs. Both companies will support this 5K event in St. Augustine where participants can run, walk or just attend. The event is intended to honor first responders, commemorate 9/11 and raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers programs.
