Helping to Change Lives with Rethreaded

Rethreaded is a Jacksonville-based organization that provides a safe, supportive work environment for survivors of human trafficking. The not-for-profit group helps survivors get job training and counseling so they can put their lives back together.

The participants – and volunteers – repurpose shirts to make scarves and also create notebooks, business card holders and key chains out of leather from donated airline seats.

In February, Talitha Hooper went with her church group to volunteer for her Day of Service. “While we were there, we deconstructed the leather seat covers – it was very meticulous and took a lot of patience,” she said. “I definitely plan on going back to volunteer again. It was such a blessing to be part of such a great business.”
