Working From Home With Your Spouse Part II

Back in the Spring, we shared a story with you about two of our senior team members working remotely due to COVID-19. It's not often that a couple not only works together, which made the story of the Greshams so compelling.

Well, the safer at home order was relaxed and office life started to return to normal, tragedy struck and the Greshams found themselves back working remotely. Although the circumstances are tough, Tracy and Sean have the same great attitude they always do.

Senior Logistics Specialist Sean Gresham

We asked how they're doing being back at the home office.

AL: Y'all are back working remotely, what's changed?

Tracy:  My father recently fell ill. Keeping him safe is most important to us, so we're taking every necessary precaution. Sean and I are blessed that Rob was flexible with the situation. I really love working here.

AL: After coming back to the office, was it hard transitioning back to the home office?

TG: For me? No Way! I love it!! Sean is making adjustments, he's such a trooper. I know he would rather be in the office, being in the thick of things, but he knows this is best for our family.

AL: What advice would you give to people who have to go back to working remotely, especially when it comes to working with your spouse?

Sean Gresham enjoys a poolside cigar during breaktime.

TG: We've been working together for 12 years, and are pretty much together 24 hours a day, so you know, it definitely takes a toll. You really have to keep yourself motivated and in the freight moving zone. Also you have to have thick skin and patience.

The last few months have been hard on everyone, so sometimes things can get a little stressed. On the flipside, it's nice to sit by the pool for breaks and lunch. Sean likes that he can sleep in and I love that I can work in your pajamas.

AL: What changes have you seen in the Transportation Industry over the last few months?

TG: We haven't declined, if anything our business has increased really. Sean says he doesn't think customers got busier, there are just fewer trucks on the road due to covid. From what we've seen, some older drivers are playing it safe and parking their trucks, and some mom & pop companies are closing up shop.

AL: Finally, what is the general mood of your customers, are they optimistic for the rest of the year and 2021?

TG: One of Sean's biggest customers is offering bonuses for on time pick up and delivery. There are so few trucks on the road now vs pre-covid that it really is a Driver's market. For me though, I'm on track to have another record breaking year, Thank God.
